ABOUT ME

I'm a reporter and writer based in Miami.

My work focuses on topics related to the environment, Latin America, immigration, gender, health and human rights. I've written for The New York Times, the Associated Press, Fast Company Magazine, Univision, Ms. Magazine and others.

From 2011 to 2015 I freelanced from Argentina and Colombia. Upon my return to the U.S., I worked as a staff writer at the alt-weekly Miami New Times, covering all things Miami, from the encroaching seas to the Cuban exile community, and from local politics to historic preservation. I then helped launch the first-ever English-language digital news section at Univision.

I am a two-time recipient of the International Women's Media Foundation (IWMF)'s Adelante fellowship, which allowed me to report from Chiapas, Mexico; and from El Salvador and Guatemala. I am fluent in Spanish.
